Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How much cake shall we order?
I recommend that you add your day and evening guest number together and deduct 20% to decide on the size of your cake. On average a three-tier cake will feed 90 portions, and a 4-tier cake will feed up to 125 portions. If you would like a taller cake, we can discuss adding a dummy tier which will make the cake a real statement, especially in venues with tall ceilings!
As I do not ever freeze my wedding cakes in advance, you could even take the wedding cake home and freeze it to enjoy in your first few weeks of marriage.
We often hear that couples missed out on eating their wedding cake, so I suggest that if the cake is important to you, ask your venue or a trusted person in your wedding party to save you a slice of each flavour. And if you are gathering with family and friends next day its nice to keep back some cake to cut and share as you reflect on your wedding day☺
Q. Do you accommodate allergen requests?
I do not offer eggless, gluten, vegan or dairy free wedding cakes
All of my cakes, favours and dessert tables are produced in an environment where gluten, nuts, milk and eggs are present. Consequently, I am unable to guarantee products will be 100% free of allergens. It is important you let me know at the time of ordering if you are intolerant to any specific allergen.
Q. Do you deliver and set up the cake?
Always! We offer free delivery to all our preferred supplier venues and within a 20 mile radius of the studio in Aston Clinton. Outside this radius this we charge 50p a mile for delivery.
I do not offer customer collection for tall tiered cakes due to their fragility. Smaller intimate wedding cakes can be collected from my home studio at an agreed time and the charge for this would be £20.00 to cover the rigid cake transportation box and safety matting.
Q. Can I have multiple flavours?
With pleasure – choose a different flavour for every tier!
Q. Can I use fresh flowers on my cake?
We will accommodate requests for fresh flowers but advise that they are used at your own risk. They need to be food safe to use on the cake, your florist can advise on this. (We cannot accept responsibility for fresh flower safety and suggest you check the flowers meet EHO guidelines). We will liaise directly with your florist on flower selection. We will arrange to decorate the cake at your venue.
Q. I want a 3 tier cake but I only have 40 guests, what can I do?
You can still have a 3 tier cake! We can add a dummy tier to your cake, decorated like the others, that can even be used for your ‘cutting the cake’ photo.
Q. How far in advance do I need to book?
We only take a limited number of bookings each month and are booking over 18 months ahead, so it’s best to book as far as possible in advance
Q. What are the payment arrangements?
After your consultation and you are happy with the details on your booking form, we will request a 30% booking fee; your final balance is due 6 weeks before your wedding, all the details about your order will be shown in your quote and booking form.
Q. Do you offer a consultation?
I would love to meet you! Just follow our contact us link and let us know the date of your wedding and venue and the type of iced or luxury buttercream cake you would like and we will be in touch!
Consultations are for 2 people, and we request that £40 is paid in advance to confirm your wedding date and tasters. (This also reassures me that you will turn up for the consultation!) This fee is deducted from your final invoice when you book with me. After your wedding cake is booked in any further face to face consultations incur an additional £40 fee.
Q. How do I store my cake?
After your cake has been delivered, I recommend it to be stored in a cool environment, never in a fridge as this causes condensation to collect on the cake surface which can damage decorations and possibly spoil or dry out your cake! After the cake has been cut, the remainder can be stored in a sealed cool place and should be eaten within 2-3 days for best tasting cakes. My cakes are never frozen so you can freeze for up to a month if you choose.
Q. Can I loan your beautiful cake stands?
Yes! Absolutely! I offer free loan of each cake stand if they are available. There is a deposit charge of £100; the stand is to be returned within 4 days of hire. Stands that are lost or damaged are charged at £100, and late returns are charged at £10 per day. For wedding stand hire we understand that you might be a little busy to return the stand, either one of your trusted guests can return it to us. By signing your booking form, you are accepting our terms and conditions.
